Jaguar held a gala evening to promote the new XF Sportbrake (estate) in Italy last night, in association with AD magazine and its La casa degli italiani show at the Milan Fuorisalone (furniture fair).
The area dedicated to the car saw three Jaguar models: the new XF Sportbrake, the new XKR-S Convertible, which Jaguar claim is its fastest GT, and one of the most famous E-types of all, registration number 77 RW.
Historical images of Jaguars through the years were also shown.
The Sportbrake will be available in Italy at the end of 2012. Jaguar says the vehicle is well suited to modern, more active lifestyles.
The XKR-S reaches a limited 300 km/h, according to official figures, and develops 550 PS and 680 Nm of torque from its five-litre engine. Carbon dioxide emissions are at 292 g/km, helped somewhat by the car’s light aluminium construction.
The spiritual ancestor to the XKR-S is the E-type, which to many remains the quintessential Jaguar. An E-type is on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Among the VIPs at the event were Tadeusz Jelec, design manager of Jaguar Cars, and Gian Maria Gabbiani, the official pilot of the Team Ferlito Jaguar Super Stars Championship.
