Hennes & Mauritz has shown its men’s line for spring–summer 2012, blurring work and play æsthetics.
As with its womenswear line, H&M hasn’t been scared to go with stronger colours, mixing blues and khakis, or bold, primary colours such as yellow and red. The cuts, according to H&M’s head menswear designer Andreas Löwenstam, are a mixture between lean and voluminous.
The company cites sports as being a key influence, with parkas and anoraks part of the range, while nautical stripes feature as one of the patterns. With the rest of the range, cotton and light wool are key fabrics for the season.
H&M identifies its ‘cotton double-breasted navy blazer, nautical striped sweater, cropped chinos, orange cropped parka; bold-striped heavy knits, khaki blazers,’ and strong-coloured Ts as the principal items in the range, accessorized with ‘knit hats, deck shoes, leather bracelets, round sunglasses, cardholders on straps, [and] contrast sole brogues.’
