Aston Martin commemorates Goldfinger’s 60th with limited-edition DB12

Aston Martin celebrates a 60-year partnership with Ian Fleming’s iconic secret agent and the anniversary of the James Bond blockbuster
 





 
It’s 60 years since the first big James Bond blockbuster—and the third film on the silver screen—premièred, and Aston Martin is celebrating it with its DB12 Goldfinger Edition.

Following Dr No and From Russia with Love, Goldfinger was the Bond film that hit all the notes with audiences, nailing the formula and propelling the series into super-stardom.

Following Ian Fleming’s lead of using an Aston Martin in the novel, the Bond producers updated it to the then-current DB5, and in doing so, created what is arguably the most iconic car in the world.

Outside of the literary Bond world, this created a partnership between James Bond and Aston Martin, which saw Bond pilot various models from 1964 through to 2021’s No Time to Die.

Aston Martin has chosen its latest model in the DB lineage—the DB12—and given it the 007 treatment, courtesy of its Q by Aston Martin personalization service.

Only 60 of the DB12 Goldfinger Editions will be made, each finished in the Silver Birch colour of the DB5, with Sports Plus leather seats in the DB5 fluted style with a Prince of Wales check perforation pattern, a sill plaque with a Goldfinger 60th anniversary logo, and 18 ct gold-plated interior accents on the drive mode rotary dial and roller controls. There is an eight of hearts motif in the driver’s sun visor, referencing the card in the last draw from the Miami pool scene at the start of the movie.

Other highlights include a custom car cover, luxury key presentation box, a Silver Birch Speedform model, and a section of the Furka Pass scene from Goldfinger in 35 mm film. There is also a limited-edition Aston Martin magazine. All are presented in a Globe-Trotter attaché case. Owners can also enjoy a magnum of Bollinger, 2007 vintage, with four exclusive Bollinger 007 glasses, in a bespoke Globe-Trotter Air Cabin Case.
