In brief: Matthew McConaughey continues his long association with Stand up to Cancer; Carole Bouquet offers her limited-edition wine to €1,000-plus donors to a seabed restoration project in Italy; and Dyson releases its noise-cancelling Zone headphones in New Zealand

Actress Carole Bouquet is patron of the Panther project, winner of the Pure Ocean endowment fund’s 2023 call for projects, and led by the Università Polytechnica della Marche’s researchers. This seabed restoration project sees scientists, fishermen, divers and residents replanting posidonia, sponges and gorgonians in a 200 m² area off the island of Pantelleria, Italy to re-create an environment that will bring back marine life.

For every €1,000 donation from October 1 to December 31, 2023, Bouquet will offer a bottle of her Sangue d’Oro wine as a thank-you. Only 5,000 bottles of the cuvée are produced annually, harvested and made to the methods of the DOC Passito de Pantelleria appellation.

The Dyson Zone noise-cancelling headphones are now available in New Zealand, with up to 50 hours of listening (varying based on environment and use), ultra-low distortion and active noise cancellation.

They faithfully reproduce frequencies in a wide range from 6 Hz to 21 kHz, thanks to 40 mm 16 Ω neodymium speakers at the centre of the audio system. Inside are 11 microphones, eight reducing noise pollution by up to 38 dB, monitoring surrounding sounds 384,000 times per second.

Additionally, they can be equipped with a removable visor to project purified air to the wearer when in polluted areas or on public transport.

An app can control the headphones, including the airflow speed, noise reduction mode, and audio equalization.

The design distributes weight evenly across both sides of the head, rather than the top. The headphones can be fully charged in three hours.

They are available now at dyson.co.nz and JB Hi-Fi stores, online and selected ones in-store. Retail price for the limited-edition Prussian blue–dark blue model is NZ$1,099. A more premium Absolute+ model will soon be available at NZ$100 more, only from Dyson Direct.

McConaughey has been supporting SU2C since 2014. The latest PSA promotes the importance of funding cancer research. Filmed at the South Carolina beach, it illustrates what every person who is impacted by cancer craves: more time. Brian Morrow directed the PSA, which was produced by Sharkpig.
