Dacia will launch a refreshed version of its Spring EV in the UK next month. Already shown at Genève in February, the new Spring remains based on the original Renault City K-ZE, itself based on the Kwid, but with straighter and more modern sheetmetal, excepting the roof. There is a redesigned and better built interior. Higher-line models will see a 10·1 in central screen replacing the previous 7 in one. The instrument display is a 7 in LCD panel. Range from the 26·8 kWh battery is 220 km (137 miles) on the WLTP mixed cycle, and 300 km (186 miles) on the WLTP urban cycle. Charging from 20 to 100 per cent takes four hours on a 7 kW charger.

The new car’s prices will begin £14,995, making it the cheapest full EV on sale in the UK. Until June 4, customers there can pre-order the new model for a £99 deposit at www.dacia.co.uk. They benefit from a special offer of £250 toward accessories, public charging or a home charger.

Orders open on June 4, coinciding with the launch of Dacia’s flagship London West retail location on the A4 in Brentford.

The refreshed Spring will make its UK public début at Dacia London West on June 4.

The Spring had previously been sold on the Continent, and became the top-selling European-badged full EV. British sales were delayed till the refresh, when Dacia felt that the specification would be accepted by the buying public.

The Spring is sourced from Renault China’s joint venture, EasyGo, in Shiyan, Hubei, China, for export only.
