A Lucire special promotion

Over the years, Acer has been coming up with devices that look great, and the Iconia A1-830 tablet is no exception. As the world shifts more to tablet computing, replacing desktops—and in some cases, even laptops—Acer has capitalized quickly on the trend, as it has done each time a new niche appears on the horizon.
The Iconia A1-830 has a 7·9-inch screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio, and a brushed aluminium case that’s durable and makes it comparable to a rival product that most people think of when tablets are mentioned. There’s also an Acer case, which is functional (it can fold into a stand) as well as attractive.
While the resolution is only at 1,024 by 768 pixels, it does provide a 178-degree viewing angle. Reviews show that the Acer isn’t held back when it comes to colour and contrast, rivalling some more expensive tablets.
There’s 1 Gbyte of RAM and 16 Gbyte of internal memory, which will be enough for many users, and it runs an Intel Atom dual-core processor at 1·6 GHz. This does mean you can do the basic things most people ask of their tablets: surfing the web (provided you keep multitasking to a minimum), and play simple mobile games. Independent tests show that the Iconia A1-830 can last seven hours on a full charge, so it’s a bit more than the life of the party that the video indicates.
Acer has preloaded plenty of apps on the A1-830, including Evernote and a bar code scanner, plus it will sync with Acer’s own Cloud service, working between multiple devices.
Acer, as usual, is fighting the competition on price. Depending on the country, it’s usually cheaper than a Nexus 7 or a Kindle Fire HDX, it looks relatively smart, and it’s ideal for those starting to get in to tablet computing, hence the low price (it’s under US$200 in the US).
